Assistant by AEC is a cross-platform BIM Automation tool that is said to combine traditional, predictable step-by-step tasks with agentic tool execution.
According to the company, this enables the user to get the best of both worlds – the reliability of deterministic code and the flexibility of agentic workflows.
Assistant is designed to automate common BIM and CAD tasks such as exports, checks, coordination, and data handling, and can be configured to drive Revit, Navisworks, Tekla, AutoCAD, Solibri, and Dynamo tasks from a single ‘action file’.
Assistant by AEC is a mature product but, according to the developers, the recent addition of AI makes it easier to implement in existing projects, where data is more unstructured than in projects where automation has been in focus from day one. In addition, built in script generation makes it easier for non-coders to create a short patch between two existing automation steps that just needs a small tweak in the data structure in order to connect.
Assistant has a built in AI service, in addition to OpenAI and local AI using Ollama, and allows users to configure MCP servers to their agentic workflows.
