Parametric, founded in Gothenburg in 2020, develops Hektar, a generative site planning tool. It helps architects and municipalities test design scenarios with housing typologies, density, and daylight metrics..
Hektar is designed for early-stage massing and urban feasibility studies. From a web browser, users can sketch site boundaries, select from building typologies—such as lamellas, row houses, or point houses—and engage real-time scenario generation powered by geographic data like zoning, parcel layout, and topography.
Users enter key parameters (e.g. building depth, green area percentage, parking ratios), or let the system propose options automatically. Scenarios are evaluated instantly with metrics like floor area ratio, solar access, and yield, enabling side-by-side comparisons and sharable, interactive client views. Exports include OBJ, 3DM, CSV, and 3D viewers for seamless downstream use. Hektar leverages evolutionary algorithms and generative AI to produce feasible urban layouts that meet constraints and design intent.
