Drawer AI is an electrical estimating software for contractors and MEP estimators designed to reduce the time spent on manual takeoffs and improve estimate accuracy by eliminating counting errors.
The platform performs quantity takeoff of electrical equipment directly from PDF drawings, using AI to count and classify electrical devices, fixtures, and equipment, then automates branch routing.
Drawer AI recognizes standard electrical symbols and annotations across different drawing styles and scales. According to the company, thousands of drawings from hundreds of projects have been analysed and used to train the AI systems that power the app.
For light fixtures, the AI automatically detects the schedule in a drawing set and extracts a list of fixtures. It then detects those fixtures and their tags on the plans, measures their sizes, and adds them to the bill of materials in the “Takeoff Pad”. According to the developers, the whole process takes a couple of minutes. A similar process is applied to power devices.
Once power devices, panels, and circuit information has been extracted, the AI uses computational design technology to perform branch routing.
Taking branch routing preferences based on NEC codes, th AI determines which circuits to group per home run and analyses thousands of possible locations for the home run box to find the optimal position. It then routes the home runs from the panels to the home run boxes and continues with branch runs to connect all devices.
Users can then generate an Excel report of quantities and PDF of the drawing with markup and properties.
